The first day dedicated to Asian-Americans now established in California!

California now has a first day dedicated to Asian-Americans: The Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution Bill! The first Korematsu Day will be celebrated on Jan. 30, 2011. I feel very happy and a tad jealous of Americans (doesn’t happen very often, I admit). Also, this is possibly the first time where I feel something akin to pleasant while looking at Arnold Schwarzenegger’s photo. Many first times around.

You can read about Fred Korematsu, whose refusal to comply to racist government orders to enter Japanese internment camps, here.
